Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Were Out Of My Comfort Zone

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where bloggers make lists about books and other suitably bookish things. This week we're doing books that were out of our comfort zone :)

1. The Hunger Games. At the time I read them, I was very much a paranormal girl. I wouldn't touch anything else with a bargepole, but as soon as I started THG, I did not regret it. Opened up the doors to a whole kaboodle of different genres!

2. Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles. I hate the cover of this book, but everyone told me it was good, so I read it even though I thought it was gonna be a load of crap and all 'girly' and stuff. Yeah. I was an idiot. 

3.  Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts. Literally finished this about 10 minutes ago. I thought I wouldn't like it, but I wanted to read a scary book, so I read it... AMAZING. But I may ave to sleep with the lights on tonight...

4.  Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. Another one where I thought NO WAY is this book going to be for me! I really don't know myself very well at all... *runs off to go cuddle it*

5.  An Inspector Calls by J. B. Priestly. Does this count because I had to read it for school? Oh well. Totally thought I would hate it (like most books we read for school) but it was such a good play! I loved it!

6. Undead by Kirsty McKay. You never forget your first zombie book. I think this was the book that made me want to read about the living dead. That, and watching Shaun of the Dead about a million times... #yayzombies!

7. Eight Keys by Suzanne LaFleur. I always thought that I was too old for middle grade books, and that I wouldn't like them, but this one really won over my heart!

8.  Graceling by Kristen Cashore. This was the first high fantasy book I really read, and I didn't really get into it... But I really want to try it again at some point!

9.  The Mortal Instruments. These books were out of my comfort zone because I read them at a time that ALL books were out of my comfort zone. So yeah. You can blame them for how I turned out... ;)

10. Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut. I don't read classics a lot, and I read modern classics even less so it surprised me when I read this, and I really enjoyed it!
